.... it has it all...! ... chic, spacious, personalised rooms... beautiful artwork.... a breath of old Portuguese mystery... a spot on location... a private figue tree in the outdoor courtyard..... a breathtaking view... a constant smell of fresh linnen... newly baked cakes for breakfast... - and Lisboa's absolutly most charming, knowing, handsom, fun hosts... - go!!! because you're worth it! and because it is worth your time!

A Perfect Stay in Lisbon
My wife and I just returned from a 3 week vacation to Portugal, and spent the first 6 days in Lisbon at Casa do Bairro B&B. We initially chose Casa do Bairro based on other positive reviews here and after correspondence with the owners; needless to say, we are very glad we did! Without a doubt, Casa do Bairro was the best place we stayed at in the whole country, and we really can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our time there. Alex and Vasco (together with their very friendly dogs Kika and Buba) are incredibly generous and caring hosts, and really treat their guests like family. Nothing is too much to ask and they really pull out all the stops to ensure that guests have a wonderful stay at their place, and in Lisbon and Portugal overall. After over a year of painstaking work, they just finished renovating an old apartment building into Casa do Bairro, a real gem with all the necessary modern amenities. Just opened in the past month, we stayed in the lovely Chiado room, which was tastefully decorated and very quiet, facing internally off the street. The room was huge and had one Queen and one Full size bed. There is also a common area computer with High Speed internet to check e-mail, etc. Importantly, the B&B is located in a very historical and authentic quarter of Lisbon (Santa Catarina) and is near all the must-see sites/districts; the Chiado, Bairro Alto, Belem, Baixa, and Alfama districts are all within walking distance (be forewarned that Lisbon overall is very, very hilly!!!), but a block away is the trolley line/bus that goes to all these districts as well. The breakfasts were excellent and plentiful, all served on the airy outdoor patio amidst fruit trees and blue sky! Fresh-brewed coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice; fresh breads, rolls, and pastries; freshly sliced cheeses and meats; and best of all – Alex’s homemade Strawberry and Apricot jams full of whole fruit!! But more importantly was the fact that Alex and Vasco joined us for breakfast every morning and made sure that everything was fine as well as helping us plan for the day’s activities. They also joined us in the evenings for glasses of Vinho Verde as well as for excellent conversation. Both are multilingual – fluent in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian. Both are also very knowledgeable about Lisbon and Portugal overall. Vasco is a native Lisboan, and Alex has been living in Lisbon for the past ten years. So they know where to go, where to eat, and what to do. Overall, if you are traveling to Lisbon, and want to stay with excellent hosts in a beautifully restored building in an authentic quarter of the city, we would strongly recommend Casa do Bairro. We will definitely return on our next trip to Portugal.

Modern Design Meets Old Lisbon ~ PERFECT!”
My husband and I have the pleasure of staying at the relatively new B&B run by Alex and Vasco. The place has fun modern art and is extremely clean. The location was a great spot for exploring the city and was in the middle of a very authentic neighborhood. It was an easy walk to both the lower parts of town and the upper parts of town. Just up the hill from the hotel (literally a 3 minute walk uphill) was a great park with an amazing view. There were lots of people out late and everyone seemed to be enjoying a beer or some vino verde. Normally I am unhappy with european style breakfasts, but theirs was the best I ever had. Homemade jams, orange juice, and fresh bread picked up that morning were amazing! There was plenty of selection and we were always happy and content when we left the breakfast table. They have a great policy where you write your name on a list taped to the fridge of whatever drinks you enjoy. The prices were reasonable and it let us enjoy walking around town without having to worry about bringing refreshments back to our room with us. They just tacked it on to the bill at the end. We enjoyed drinking wine on their rooftop patio on the warm lisbon evenings. Every time we saw our hosts, they always asked if everything was good and made sure we were happy. Stay here if you can!!! You won't regret it!

un havre de sérénité
Nous sommes rentrés hier soir dans nos terres annéciennes (10 C° : un vrai choc thermique) mais nos pensées sont encore à la Casa do Bairro où nous avons passé 4 jours magiques. On ne pouvait pas rêver mieux avec un enfant ! Chambres douillettes à la pointe de la modernité côté déco, petit déjeuner de roi (avec de la pastèque fraîche, des confitures maison et des pâtisseries locales) une clim' appréciable par 35 °, une bibliothèque bien fournie, de nombreux magazines de déco et surtout des hôtes adorables toujours disponibles et le sourire aux lèvres... Et j'en passe ! Un grand merci à Alex et Vasco pour leur accueil inoubliable et bises à Edgar de la part de Nils ! Béryl et Steve

Séjour innoubliable
Découvrir Lisbonne comme des portugais, quelle expérience ! Un séjour inoubliable à tous les niveaux : de la qualité de l'accueil au confort des chambres en passant évidemment par le régal du petit déjeuner et la convivialité d'Alex l'hôte ! Nous sommes partis tranquilles, le reste était sur place : les conseils éclairés en matière touristique et la chaleur "comme à la maison" après une journée bien remplie... Les meilleures conditions pour voyager en famille!

Confort, Charme, et Convivialité au coeur de Lisbonne: nous reviendrons!
Quelle chance d'avoir trouvé "Casa do Bairro" ! Nous avons pu visiter Lisbonne de long en large, et rentrer chaque soir dans un petit nid douillet situé au coeur de la vieille ville, et défiant toute concurrence (rapport qualité/prix). L'accueil y est très chaleureux : Alexandre nous a donné de nombreux conseils pour découvrir la ville, et parcourir les ruelles et places insolites. Avec deux enfants, c'était un vrai bonheur après des heures de marche de rentrer le soir dans le B&B en se sentant "à la maison". La décoration est très sympa, le calme est incontestable, et surtout la chambre et les lieux communs sont d'un confort exceptionnel ! De plus les gourmands seront comblés ! Les petits déjeuners copieux vont ravir vos papilles : Le pain est délicieux, les confitures maisons sont variées, les gâteaux exquis..... Que dire de plus à part merci aux propriétaires ! Découvrir Lisbonne en famille dans ces conditions a rendu notre séjour inoubliable, et nous projetons d'ailleurs, de revenir bientôt ! Laurenne, Jean-Marc, Rosy et Marine

Topcomfort
Dit spiksplinternieuw pension slaagde erin de authenticiteit en de charme van een historisch pand te koppelen aan eigentijds topcomfort (TV, PC, Airco). Mijn kamer was heel ruim en uiterst smaakvol ingericht : het hedendaags designmeubilair werd prachtig gecombineerd met een antieken commode. Hoewel gelegen in hartje Lissabon, was het een van de rustigste kamers waar ik ooit overnachtte. De vriendelijke uitbaters waren vlot meertalig (Pt, Fr, It, Eng) en uiterst behulpzaam om me wegwijs te maken in deze romantische grootstad. Ik ga er zeker terug !

Wir wurden richtig gut empfangen und die Bed & Breakfastleute haben alles dafuer getan, damit wir uns richtig zuhause fuehlen! Wir kommen naechstes Jahr wieder!!! Nur zu empfehlen

Se sentir comme chez soi dans un quartier romantique de Lisbonne
Quelle bonne surprise que ce tout nouveau B&B à Lisbonne! L'accueil est très chaleureux, ma jolie chambre avait tout le confort possible et imaginable, et les hôtes ont su me conseiller sur les bars et restaurants à la mode des environs - et ils ne manquent pas dans le Bairro Alto - ou sur les musées les plus intéressants. C'est aussi très agréable de pouvoir s'exprimer en français - les hôtes sont polyglottes. Deux jours c'était trop court, je reviendrai très certainement, et je ne peux que recommander cette adresse aux voyageurs curieux de découvrir Lisbonne autrement que par le biais d'un hôtel standard 4 ou 5 étoiles.

Que dire à part...parfait !
Je viens régulièrement à Lisbonne et une chose est sûre, c'est que, la prochaine fois, je ne changerai pas d'hotel comme je le fais habituellement. Car là, c'est le top. Trés bien placé en centre ville. Tout le confort possible aprés avoir déambulé dans les charmantes petites rues de Lisbonne. Chambres spacieuses et bien décorées. Petits déjeuners copieux avec produits frais (dont certains préparés par les voisines !). Un accueil chaleureux par un hôte (mignon en plus) français qui n'est pas avare en conseils.
